Coopers Subheading

Coopers Brewery

Born in South Australia. Brewed for generations.

For more than 150 years, Coopers Brewery has been part of the South Australian story.

Founded by Thomas Cooper in 1862, the family-owned brewery has remained proudly South Australian through six generations, with the same passion for brewing that started it all. Today, Coopers continues to brew with the original spirit of its founder, combining traditional brewing methods with modern technology to create the distinctive beers generations of Australians have come to know and love.

It’s a heritage that makes Coopers more than just a brewery. It’s a true South Australian institution.

A South Australian brewing icon

Walk into almost any South Australian gathering and there’s a good chance you’ll find a Coopers beer being enjoyed.

From a Pale Ale at the pub to a Sparkling Ale shared with mates, Coopers has become part of the fabric of South Australian life. Its distinctive cloudy appearance, natural conditioning and unmistakable flavour are the result of brewing traditions that have been carefully passed down through generations.

Coopers remains one of the few breweries in the world to naturally condition its beers at scale — a traditional process that requires time, patience and generations of brewing knowledge.

And while the techniques may be steeped in history, Coopers continues to embrace innovation, investing in modern brewing technology while staying true to the methods that have made its beers so distinctive.

 150 years of brewing history

When you pour a Coopers beer, you’re pouring more than a drink. You’re pouring more than 150 years of South Australian brewing history.

Six generations of the Cooper family have helped shape the brewery into what it is today, maintaining a commitment to quality, consistency and the art of brewing.

From its home in Adelaide to tables across Australia, Coopers remains proudly independent, proudly family-owned and proudly South Australian.
